I realize the risk of revealing that I’m not that great in the kitchen may lead to readership reduction, but let’s face it- when you’ve got a husband who’s job description includes cooking 5-star firehouse meals and still enjoys doing the same for his family, well, why rock the boat? But there are many a nights when it’s just me and 3 little picky eaters in the house so I thought I would share one of our favorite meals. This particular one, my daughter Jamie, age 11, likes to make for us all by herself. It does include broiling, so it definitely takes an adult to handle that part.
The list of ingredients and recipe are so short and simple, it’s almost embarrassing, so I prettied it up with some fancy lettering. You can calculate your own measurements, you can’t really mess this up. I had a roommate that used to make this when we were broke and tired of Top-Ramen. I’m not kidding when I say this is dee-lish!!
And just as a disclaimer, I don’t know for sure that this is a meal the Swiss would actually make, but let’s just say they do for culinary-blogging purposes.
SWISS STYLE SPAGHETTI
•Shredded Swiss Cheese
•Cooked and drained spaghetti
Place a serving of cooked spaghetti on to oven-proof plate and cover with plain (trust me) tomato sauce and shredded Swiss cheese and place under broiler until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
…ok, that’s it, enjoy. Oh, alright, if you want to get fancy, sprinkle a little paprika on top before you cook. There.
