While raising 3 kids I’ve done a few things right, (and plenty wrong, but that’s the post you’ll never read.) So I figure that if you’re going to survive parenting young children, you’ve got to get clever.
Most children are quite tactile by nature and seem to have an innate need to touch and feel everything new to them in the world. Thank goodness I found an alternative solution to the warning: “Don’t touch ANYTHING in this store!” upon entering any shop where they could do potential damage. We’d do a finger check. I’d have them show me which finger they chose for touching things in the store and that’s the only one they could use. Years and years of one-finger-touching and NEVER any damage. Yay Mom!
