Gifts Fom Kids

As we evolve into the gift-giving season, I like to remind my children that it is important for them to be givers as well as receivers, and how much fun the process of giving can be.So here’s a cute little project we did a few years ago as Christmas gifts for Jeff’s dad, aka: Papa.

Using inexpensive craft canvas boards and acrylic paint, the kids painted sweet and simple self portraits. I drew basic pencil lines on the boards to keep the artwork consistent in layout, leaving an area at the bottom for names. We attached plate hanging hardware to the backs and they each wrapped their own.

The portraits now hang in their father’s old childhood bedroom at their Papa’s house and I just love seeing them whenever I visit.

That is such a cute idea- I love it! We made pictures on canvas for the grandma’s one year. My son drew “grandma’s garden.” It was precious!

Oh, I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to do this!! How fun! My son is just now starting to like to draw. I was worried he would never be able to hold his pencil correct.

He came home from school and showed me a drawing of a snake on grass… you’d have thought he won the lottery. I got so excited. ha!
