Last week, as a part of The New York Says Thank You Foundation event, my husband, joined his cousin, Chaplain Steve Holden of the United States Emergency Chaplains Corps, dozens of FDNY firefighters and many other wonderful volunteers in the restoration of the Little Sioux Boy Scout camp in Iowa. You may remember this location as the scene of incredible heroism and loss during the horrific tornado storm last year that claimed the lives of four young scouts, injuring so many others.
The New York firefighters built an amazing new chapel made mostly from wood milled from downed trees on the site. Jeff and others, including NY employees of Merrill Lynch, labored long and hard to establish a walking path up and through very thick brush to a special lookout spot on the hill overlooking the camp, a trail and viewpoint favored by the late boy scouts.Jeff took some great photos that I uploaded to my Flickr site HERE .
